The Tanks
The Tanks is an award-winning urban design proposal for the adaptive reuse of decommissioned oil tanks around the world. Founded in 2015 with the focus of one special site on the Brooklyn waterfront, The Tanks has since expanded to become a network and set of best practices for similar projects globally.
The proposal lays out methods to transform oil tanks into greenhouses, performance spaces, parks, and oyster habitats.
The Tanks received an AIANY Design Award, AIANYS Award, Architizer A+ Popular Choice Award, and Architect’s Newspaper Best of Design Award.
