Let’s talk about the power of the unbuilt.
Midjourney has catalyzed a plethora of unbuilt and unbuildable architectural designs to enter the ether. Architects around the world are stretching their imaginations to produce unprecedented structures, forms, and spaces.
At the same time, the Frank Lloyd Wright foundation partnered with architect David Romero to visualize the out-of-this-world, unbuildable designs of the icon (which totally look like they could have been designed on Midjourney, by the way).
These visionary visuals certainly expand our minds, but could they impact actual development on construction?
Can unbuildable designs benefit us in the real world?
Andrew Kudless, an architect who teaches at the University of Houston, says AI will only help architects explore ideas faster. “AI images are more like sketches,” says Kudless, “and it is up to the architect to translate these sketches into drawings, models and fabrication data.”
What else can these fanciful inventions do for the industry? Feel free to hit respond, would love to hear your thoughts!
