The real estate heavy-hitters are coming for digital nomads.
It seems that the desire to live and move fluidly was not a passing COVID fad—and major landlords and platforms are taking note. They’re making moves to allow renters to easily live anywhere, anytime, with all the frills.
Airbnb is launching a platform dedicated to renters, just announced this week. They’ve partnered with 175 Airbnb-friendly buildings to allow for short-term stays across 25 major markets.
Related has introduced The Set in Hudson Yards (its first location), a “hospitality-inspired rental experience” with options for furnished units, short-term leases, and five-star services.
Marriott is also launching a new residential brand, The Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy, an extended-stay brand offering serviced apartments in the US and Canada.
If this concept sounds familiar, you’ve probably stayed at a Sonder, Landing, or Placemakr before… Hopefully these Davids are ready to take on Goliath.
Could 12-month leases and empty box apartments become a thing of the past?
